About the Artist
To understand Felixx, one must know that he marches to the beat of his own rhythmic
Groomed from an early age to be a southern gentleman, the Monroe, Georgia-native has mastered the art of distinction. An impressive hybrid of sophistication and warmth, Felixx’s disposition parallels his approach to music as well. A classically trained singer with influential energy from Mozart, John Mayer, Calvin Richardson, Prince, Justin Timberlake and Miguel, the R&B crooner is one of the few artists today to make records incorporating live instrumentation and does so with convincing passion. His moniker, taken from his birth name Felix Thompson with the addition of an “x,” refers to his “Clark Kent” ability to effortlessly transition from one genre to another while remaining GQ smooth.
Felixx became interested in music at an early age. In fact, he developed his singing ability in the choir at the 3 local family churches he was raised in, which he continues to be involved with to this day. As a result, his schedule stays increasingly busy performing at events ranging from weddings to funerals. The young virtuoso possesses an “old soul” that transcends his 21 years of age. As a youth, Felixx’s crisp vocal skills led him to participate in talent shows, showcases, pageants and the annual Crepe Myrtle Festival. Upon graduating high school, Felixx enrolled in Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina and chose to major in Music. Moving to Atlanta, he transferred to Clark Atlanta University and changed his course of study to Public Relations and became a member of the Philharmonic Society. The nationally respected choral ensemble, which sings in Italian, Spanish and German, embarked on a 10-city tour giving Felixx the exposure and opportunity he deserved. That experience helped prepare the college senior for his breakthrough⎯ a private audition for The Voice. Executives saw a stirring YouTube performance video of Felixx covering the Allen Stone masterpiece “Unaware” and immediately flew him to New York in the summer of 2017. While he was praised for his vocal skills, he ultimately wasn’t selected but the confirmation of his talent was undeniable.
Felixx’s self-titled debut EP features the lead single he co-wrote, “Applause.” The instrument-laden track, along with its soulful, brilliant harmonies and thick melodies, was inspired by a relationship. Other standout records include the Hip-Hop laced “Life of the Party,” while “Give It To Me” is a slick, funky and sexy throwback-flavored offering that flirts on the border of Pop and Rock. Showing musical diversity and seamlessly tying together R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Pop and Rock, Felixx is contemporary art set to music. Felixx, the artist, is a superstar in the making. He has a big voice, believes in big full-band stage productions and has a big vision. “I like to make timeless, inspiring music built upon subjects that affect people. I do music because I want to share my gift with audiences across the world and make them feel a range of emotions at the sound of my voice.” From church, to the crib, to the club, Felixx blends so many diverse styles into a cohesive whole it is safe to say he is a force of nature. Felixx, a budding musical genius with unapologetic boy-next-door-charm, is the smooth modern-day voice of today’s generation.
